GREEK THAILAND TRIP
January 6th-16th 2027 // Khon Kaen, Thailand
Cru’s vision at OU and around the world is that everyone everywhere would know someone who truly follows Jesus.
Founded in 1951, Cru is now in 150+ countries, including Thailand. Cru at OU has been partnering with the Cru staff in Thailand on mission trips for 5 consecutive years.
We’ve seen 100+ OU students go to Thailand to serve Cru there.
ON THIS TRIP, WE HOPE FOR OUR 80 OU GREEK STUDENTS TO:
Form a deep community with each other as they go on an adventure
Get many reps in sharing their faith with Thai college students
Be equipped to live a life of faith back at OU in their Greek house and for the rest of their lives
See God’s heart for the world, for Thai people, and for those who don’t know Jesus
Grow in resilience, adaptability, maturity, faith, boldness, patience, etc.
Make unforgettable memories experiencing the beauty of Thailand and its people
AN AVERAGE DAY ON THE GREEK WIDE THAILAND TRIP
Most mornings, we will start with devos that we will provide to each student and/or a team bible study/mens womens time
Most afternoons, we will head to campus, split up into groups of ~10, and go interact with students
Each new student will have a Cru staff member and a returning student staff in their group, both with plenty of Thailand experience
Nights will be filled with shopping, sports, team dinners, etc.
Sprinkled in will be Thai cultural experiences such as visits to see elephants, Thai cooking classes, visits to Buddhist temples, etc.
THINGS YOU CAN EXPECT ON THIS TRIP
Thailand is hot. No Joke.
Thailand is the land of 1000 smiles. They are some of the warmest people in the world
There will be some language barriers but the Thai Cru staff, students, and Google translate will become good friends to use.
We will mainly take public transportation, like a “songthaew” (look it up). Year after year this is one of our students’ favorite daily experiences.
Thailand is very safe, tourist friendly, and beautiful.
MPD
MPD stands for Ministry Partner Development, and involves inviting people to invest in your Thailand mission trip with a financial and/or prayer commitment. In the words of Henri Nouwen, MPD is “proclaiming what we believe in such a way that we offer other people an opportunity to participate with us in our vision and mission.”
As you step out in faith, know that God will provide for those who are called to serve. We must do our part and be faithful to ask people in our lives to consider partnering with us. The primary way we do this is by writing a support letter and sending it to friends and family. We will provide you with a sample support letter. The letter could include how Greek Wide has impacted you at OU, why you are going on this trip, the need for the gospel in Thailand, and practical ways to support you through giving and prayer.
Note: If you raise more than the total cost of your mission trip, and you or your parents paid for your deposit, you can be refunded the deposit.
